Gastro-Cartography
Mrs Gorman and I were out for dinner this evening. Part way through the meal I looked across at her plate and noticed that she'd managed to cut her steak up to resemble a map of the United Kingdom.
She claims it wasn't done on purpose. I'm not sure that explains the small bit of potato so handily positioned to represent Northern Ireland, though.
I'm suspicious. Very suspicious.

You can even see the Wirral! Brilliant! They sometimes miss out my beloved 'Leisure Peninsula' on real maps!
You are still a vegetarian, despite the fun one can have with bits of dead animals, aren't you?
I want to know why she's not eating such a fine looking piece of meat?? Looks like the rest of the plate has been pretty much emptied!
@Rowan: I'm not a vegetarian per se - I eat fish but not meat. But vegetarian is a term of convenience that's sometimes applied to me and I can't be bothered to correct people. There's no point saying 'pescatarian' because most people would then say, "what's that then?" rendering the word useless.
@mistynites: It was the biggest steak I'd seen in years. Desperate Dan would have left some too.
Looks well cooked too, the crossed grill marks look very fine, how was it cooked? looks medium to well as no sign of any blood?
It's the details that are important in these matters :)
I think food cartography will be the next food craze...where next?

Good choice, I too was a pescetarian for 14 years though went over to the dark side recently, always felt odd saying pescetarian though....

Next time you're in Edinburgh, remind me to take you to the seaside. It's on the coast, not in the middle of the steak! (Wear a jumper though).
@Kirst: yes it's on the coast, but it's on the Firth of the Forth and roughly 25 miles west of North Berwick. If I'd put Edinburgh on the eastern edge of the steak-mass it would look silly.
It's not that Edinburgh is in the wrong place, it's that the Firth of the Forth is missing from an a steak that - by accident rather than design - resembles a map of the UK.
