Extra Extra Extra

Blimey... when this new tour was first announced, it was going to be a short and sweet 26 nights. A few of the shows sold quickly and some of the venues came back asking for more and we added a further 9. And then another 7. And I thought that was probably that...

But now we're adding another 19 - all in January/February 2019 - taking the total to 61.

Some of the new dates are extra shows for existing venues... we're adding a third date at the Royal Festival Hall, London, the Symphony Hall, Birmingham, the City Hall, Hull, the Theatre Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham and the confusingly named Warwick Arts Centre, which is in Coventry and not Warwick.

There's also a fifth show at the Lowry, Salford which means a huge amount to me because Manchester/Salford is where I began my adventures in comedy some 27 years ago. I was a 19 year old soon-to-drop-out student at Manchester University and my first ever gig was as part of a charity night at Salford Uni. Time flies.

There are some new towns in amongst the new dates also. Northampton, Milton Keynes, High Wycombe, Cambridge and Guildford.

Of course, all of the dates are on my site... but here's a handy map to help show you where we're going:

I know that every time I post something like this I get a flurry of emails and tweets from people asking me why I'm avoiding certain parts of the country. Allow me to head you off at the pass...  because the answer is always the same: I'm not.

Of course, they might be avoiding me. I don't book venues. They book me. Sometimes places want to book the show but don't have dates that work. Sometimes venues want to book the show but can't handle it technically - I am in a double act with a large projector screen, so sight lines and lighting etc etc are more important than if it was just one-man-and-a-mic stand up. Sometimes venues just don't want to book the show.

Anyway... I hope you can come along. See you there!

Hi Dave,

You do know that your Wolverhampton show has been moved from the Civic (which is - or will be - closed for a refit) to the nearby Aldersley Leisure Village?

Just thought I'd better check.

TTFN,

Simon

Dave Gorman said...

@Simon Coward: I do... but anyone looking to book tickets for it, would still be better searching for the Civic because it's still their show and, I think, what ticket sellers like Ticketmaster etc have it listed as.

Dave do you do a meet and greet after the show? I'd love to get my favourite book (America unchained) signed by you.

Hey Dave, did Glasgow sell out? It's showing no results on ticketmaster. Any chance of you squeezing in an extra date up here?

Really looking forward to the Warwick gig, I hope you are funnier than James Corden duck taped n bound in the boot of an old Ford Granada.

Dave Gorman said...

@Paul: Yes, I do a meet and greet after every show.

Dave Gorman said...

@Cat Dad: The show won't be televised.

@Sarahjane: I'm not kept informed of what is or isn't sold out... but it's often the case that a ticket seller like, say, Ticketmaster shows there being no tickets when all it means is that they've sold *their* allocation of tickets. We're trying to keep the links on my site pointing at the best point of contact for each show - a lot of the time it's best/easiest to contact the venue. In essence: don't assume that if one seller has no tickets, nobody else does... but you don't have to try a dozen places... just visit my site and follow the links. *If* it turns out that Glasgow has sold out, my advice would be that, rather than hoping for an extra date there, you come over to Edinburgh. It's not exactly far!

Looking forward to seeing you in Leicester. Absolutely love 'Modern Life is Goodish'. Where else can a 11 year old learn all about dogging? Learnt more from you than that Peter Kay dude in Car Share.

Looks like next Valentines Day could be fun and interesting, do you have anything suitably romantic planned for your audience in Milton Keynes?

Saw your tour originally. Myself and the husband very excited with me stating ‘unless of course I end up pregnant this month and then it’s not possible, we’ll wait a couple of days to make sure and then book tickets...’

Yep. You can guess what happened next!!

Saw you at the royal festival hall for your last tour. And managed to get front row tickets for your 2nd date in Portsmouth. Can’t wait, you sir are a genius.

Ah Dave! What's wrong with Belfast? (Remember it's nearly Brexit time, so I might not be able to get across the border!)

Just one more date. A leetle one. You will hardly even notice it.

So glad to be able to get tickets to come and see your show in Brighton. Me and my missus are both disabled and don’t get out much but as soon as we saw this advertised, we both got tickets. So a meal out first at my favourite restaurant and then your show with my favourite comedian, all accompanied by my favourite lady, what an excellent evening.

I was exceptionally late in realising you were coming to Glasgow so am sitting almost as far away as possible.
Do I need to bring some binoculars to see the PowerPoint? I might anyway just to feel fancy.

Dave Gorman said...

@Unknown, @Stephen Barnes: I don't book venues, they book me. Every tour I've done before this has played in Sheffield and I think most - possibly all - have played in Belfast too. I wish this one was, too.

I don't get told about every town and every situation - but as far as Belfast is concerned I know that there's a venue we wanted and that they wanted to have the show but they didn't have dates that worked. A second venue also wanted the show... but they didn't have the technical facilities to make the show work. So it isn't on the tour. I imagine there's a similar tale for Sheffield.

Dave Gorman said...

@Ray Phillips: No! (See December 2017 blogpost explaining the reasons for letting it go!)

Hi Dave just wondering what the running time for each show is. I have an early start the next day lol

Dave Gorman said...

An 8pm start (which is what most of the shows are) means we're normally done by 10.40.

Ish.
