Seriously! Some places have a real problem with students from certain countries (mostly south-east Asian IIRC) accidentally breaking the seats off toilets. Usually when they overbalance trying to squat on them like on the left!
It would be funny if it were not true. From experience on airlines I know that some Indians do not understand how to use them, and it got really yucky.

Visit parts of Asia...then this becomes reality....you can buy books online which explain how to use a squat loo.
'Splash back' from that height must be an issue...
We had a sign like the left one in the ladies' loos at Uni, I guess due to the proportion of international students!
